Course Description
Essential SQL Server for Developers is a hands-on course for SQL Server developers. The course will cover everything you need to know about SQL Server, with emphasis on SQL Server 2005: how to utilize its features for maximum performance, code re-usability, and application modularity. The latest version of SQL Server, SQL Server 2005 uses .NET 2.0 to introduce changes that make the database a truly integrated part of the .NET Framework, and this course give the developers a thorough look at these exciting features. This course introduces all the programming techniques enabled by the SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005.
We’ll take a look inside SQL Server to see what goes on inside the engine, and how the engine works. We will have an in-depth look at T-SQL and see what features are there to make SQL Server even more specification compliant. One area that every developer has to be aware of is security, and we cover extensively the security features of SQL Server. Naturally we also cover performance, and we will discuss and look at how the plan cache and query plans work as well as looking at the impact of indexes. We will dive into the various techniques to create code that performs really well as well as how to troubleshoot performance issues. The course covers all of these topics at both a low level and a functional level, enabling programmers to determine not only how they work, but when to use them.
You’ll also learn how and when to use some of SQL Server 2005’s application server-like features, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Service Broker and Reporting Services, to build rich applications.
