Early registration is recommended but not required. During class expect to have homework and reading assignments. If you register early, your course materials will be made available at your request.
What is included in the cost of the class?
The two week (75 hour) training class includes all of your course and exam materials and live traditional classroom instruction.
The purpose of the course is to acquaint the student with the fundamental concepts associated with the appraisal of real estate. The student will learn the role of the real estate appraiser; the licensing and regulatory requirements in developing and reporting a real estate appraisal; factors influencing property value; and the valuation methods used by an appraiser in providing an opinion of property value. During the class, the student will prepare a sample URAR appraisal report using the three approaches to value with information contained in the textbook and on slides within the instructor's PowerPoint presentation. The successful completion of the course and final exam will earn the student 75 hours of primary education credit toward the Idaho Appraisal Trainee Licensure requirements.
You will need to bring a personal calucalator to class. We recommend the HP12C.
Who is the instructor?

Mr. Scholz is an Idaho licensed Certified General Appraiser performing residential, commercial and appraisal consulting assignments throughout the state. He is an instructor for ExecuTrain and teaches real estate appraisal courses in Boise and other major cities in Idaho. Mr. Scholz also serves as a Commissioner for the City of Caldwell Planning & Zoning Department.
Mr. Scholz was formerly a staff appraiser for the international appraisal firm, Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting, Los Angeles office. His appraisals have covered a variety of properties including; office buildings, national chain restaurants, hotels, commercial businesses, shopping centers, apartment complexes and a variety of industrial facilities. Additionally, these studies have been in conjunction with real estate portfolio valuations, internal planning, highest and best use analysis, financing, sale-leasebacks, tax appeals and insurable value studies. Mr. Scholz has had extensive experience valuing assets for pension funds and real estate portfolio clients such as BlackRock, Inc., California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), Daimler Chrysler Corp. and Deutsche Bank. Mr. Scholz has worked on both a national and international level, with services specializing in the Mountain and Pacific regions in the United States, while also performing real estate valuations and consultations within Guam, Saipan, Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Some local clients have included Micron Technology, J.R. Simplot Company, The Law Firm of Davison, Copple, Copple & Copple, and many local banking institutions. Most recently, Mr. Scholz has been providing consulting and valuation services for Jean-Pierre Boesflug, the CEO of Tamarack Resort as well as property owners at the resort.
